I didn’t multiply my prices by 100 overnight.
It took me more than 10 years. And at every level, I lost clients before gaining better ones.
I started in the low-cost market. I worked with Groupon. Clients paid €29 for a photoshoot and I would receive around €10. And even then, some would still try to negotiate extras, ask for additional photos for free, or push the limits of what was included.
At some point, it wasn’t about the money anymore. It was about self-respect!
The shift didn’t start with “let’s raise prices.” It started with a decision to stop trying to figure everything out alone. I invested heavily in one-to-one mentoring, workshops and programs with people who were already where I wanted to be. (oh god, i could have bought a small house!)
Then I moved market by market…
Not by increasing 10% per year. In my experience, that’s the fastest way to stay stuck between two levels. I made jumps. Every time I started feeling comfortable in one segment, I prepared for the next one.
And yes, every jump meant losing the previous clients. That’s normal. You don’t enter a new market with the same positioning.
At some point, I also made a strategic decision to go where the money was. I moved to environments where premium clients already existed. COVID unexpectedly helped me understand that market faster and position myself directly in the right rooms.
The transition wasn’t easy. I made every mistake possible. I tried everything! I failed more times than I can count!!
But step by step, over a decade, my prices multiplied by 100. Not because of luck!! Because of positioning, investment and deliberate moves.
