In January of this year, I voluntarily gave up half of my revenue.
Yes… nearly 50% of my turnover. And I chose it.
From the outside, it looked irrational; financially risky and strategically dangerous… But I had reached a point where something inside me knew this could not continue…
This was not about one difficult client; It was about an entire segment of my industry that represented a huge share of my income, yet constantly drained my energy and slowly eroded my standards. Every interaction required anticipation, every email demanded caution, every notification made my stomach tighten because I already expected pressure, emotional volatility, or last-minute chaos.
They paid well, of course. But the emotional tax was real!
At some point in January, I sat down and put everything in the balance: financial comfort, long-term positioning, peace of mind, ambition… And I asked myself a very simple question: do I want to build a big business… or the right business?
The answer was obvious…
And before anyone panics, let me say this clearly: It’s ABSOLUTELY NOT question of stopping wedding photography! I absolutely plan to keep shooting weddings in Europe for many, many years. This craft still excites me like day 1!
It’s just about a specific segment of the clients 😉
Premium positioning is not only about charging more; it is also about protecting your energy, your standards, and your authority.
Sometimes growth does not come from adding more. It comes from having the courage to remove what no longer fits!
So tell me honestly: are you holding onto revenue that secretly exhausts you… just because it feels safe?
