Is evolving your style a good thing or a bad thing? I’m sorry to say—it’s not as simple as it seems! I had a long conversation with a friend of mine about trends and style, if it means you risk losing your signature or is it a way to keep you challenged? We both had very different opinions and I think the topic is worth debating.
You’ve probably heard it before: “Find your style and stick to it!” But what if your style wants to explore and evolve? Here’s the truth: targeting clientele isn’t just about having a specific style; it’s about how you communicate through that style. Do you agree?
Think of your style as a language. It’s not just about the individual elements (or in this case, the shots), but how you combine them to tell a story. Whether you prefer dramatic, moody tones or bright, airy vibes, it’s the narrative you create that attracts your clients.
We understand, consistency is important, right? Absolutely! Consistency in quality and the message you convey is crucial. It’s also good to follow those who have been in the game for a long time, saves you from making the same mistakes and as an inspiration. There is a lot of value in staying in your style, getting better and better, confirming your signature.
So, is evolving your style a good thing or a bad thing? In my personal opinion, It’s all about balance. Keeping your signature strong, but not being afraid to explore and show other things you can do.
What do you think? Would love to know your thoughts.
Until next week,
